Totally Locally Walkabout in Oneroa
I'm really keen to promote Totally Locally and support local business. So I went walkabout in Oneroa. Really good reception and lots of people out in spite of the weather. Extra points all round for recognising people and shops.
Key Policy and Initiatives
- Advocating for a visitor tax to manage the infrastructure we need for the island.
- Working towards an active transport friendly island and improving transport choices and safety.
- Addressing the range of accommodation issues on the island (affordable housing through to retrofitting homes).
- Working for greater visibility of culture and the arts.
- Supporting small business and social enterprise development for meaningful work opportunities.
- Questioning the TPPA and speaking out to make sure we protect government contracts and the needs of small and medium businesses.
- Ensuring that Waiheke remains Kauri Dieback free and work towards a pest free Waiheke.
- Working towards food, transport and energy security.
- Advocacy for the Inner Gulf and kaitiakitangi of the people, land and sea resources, particularly in the use of public space.
- Working on relationships, transparency of decision-making and inclusivity so we work together as a board, building strong relationships with CCOs and community stakeholders.
