Board reports are now due for the first meeting of the month which is why you’re getting April’s report so soon after March – but also why I’m keeping it short!

After months of deliberation and input from Artworks tenants, the wider community and council officers, we have just approved the operational model grant which has now been awarded to Adult Literacy for the old library space – this space has now been named CREATE. With Adult Literacy’s expertise we are hoping to extend the function of the space to support mentoring, community group capacity building, small business support and the development of social enterprise.

The response to the Expression of Interest for the space was incredible with all the proposals of a very high standard. They all identified key features and clear aspirations which we hope to build into the final model.

Note the new access to the water at the end of Gordon’s Road. Lovely place for a picnic or a walk along a different beach – thanks to the Parks team for opening that up with signage and a stile.

Anzac Day is coming up on the 25th and there are lots of on island and off island events. The online cenotaph is providing the gathering point for all personal information relating to NZ servicemen and women and the public are also able to contribute additional information they may have http://www.aucklandmuseum.com/war-memorial/online-cenotaph

Happy Easter everyone and look out for the Jazz Festival taking place over the Easter weekend, hot on the heels of another very successful Vintage Festival.
